 How to locate original files with a desktop shortcut?

Desktop shortcuts for our comfort, we create on our desktop, it is not the original file, but it is a shortcut to access that file, clicking on it opens the original file, but if it is my pen drive or CD or mail. If we like to send the file to somebody, then we require the original file, sometimes users just copy the shortcut, so that the file is not open on another computer if you like to see the original file by shortcut. Let us know:-

1. Right-click with the mouse on any program or file whose shortcut is to find the original file. 
2. Select properties. 
3. Click on the shortcut tab. 
4. Now click on the Find Target button. 
5. You will directly get the file at the root.
